Gareth Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett believes that the Real Madrid player "is worth at least 222 millon euros" - the same price which París Saint-Germain paid last summer to sign Neymar Júnior from Barcelona.
Bale will be up for the Ballon d'Or one day, says agent
Barnett also feels confident that Bale will be a future candidate to win the Ballon d'Or and underlined that the player is "very happy" at Real Madrid. "He's worth at least 222 million, like Neymar; but Gareth is very happy at Real Madrid. He loves Madrid", Barnett explained in an interview with Tuttosport before going on to add, "Gareth doesn't need Cristiano Ronaldo to leave, he's already one of the star plays at Real Madrid".
The agent also revealed an anecdote about the operation which took Bale to Real Madrid in the summer of 2013, in which the Spanish club paid Tottenham 100 million euros. "I remember the fountain pen which Florentino Pérez, a real gentleman, gave me as a gift. I always have it with me, but what I treasure even more is the great relationship we now enjoy, which was born through Gareth's move".
Bale was close to moving to Italy
Barnett also said that Bale was close to joining an undisclosed Italian club during his time at Spurs but said that the offer was turned down. "He's happy at Madrid. Things can change very quickly in football, you never know, but I honestly believe that no Italian club could buy Bale", he replied when asked if Serie A might be an option for the player in the future. The agent also praised Bale who he says is a model professional: "He's an example for children to follow - he doesn't drink alcohol and he takes great care about what he eats".
